ECAA Annual Mid-Autumn Festival

On September 14th, 2019 ECAA ( Eastvale Chinese American Association ) hosted an Annual Mid-Autumn Festival Harada Heritage Park. “Mid-autumn festival” in Chinese is zhong qiu jie. Many Chinese and Vietnamese celebrate zhong qiu jie, particularly, on the 15th day of August. Many buy or make moon cakes for this occasion.

Volunteers started to volunteer around 2 pm, helping with setting up the tents, tables, chairs, etc. As more people started coming to this event, volunteers started to move boxes, trays, and bags of food from a truck, while others started preparing the food. There was salad, hamburgers, hot dogs, ribs, water, etc. When the food was ready to be eaten, each volunteer was assigned three different tables to be in charge of. Food was brought to the tables where the attendees were seated. Everyone was extremely occupied with providing what their assigned tables needed. While the attendees were eating the delightfully exquisite foods, people were performing all kinds of entertaining performances. From piano and violin to singing and dancing, the list goes on. At the end of the event, volunteers participated in cleaning the place up. All were tired and exhausted at the end of the day but were extremely happy to know that they are helping their community out.
